J Reeser Architect, LLC was founded in Summit County, Colorado in 2005 and is currently based in Gunnison, Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona. JRA specializes in historic preservation, adaptive reuse, resort residential, and commercial architecture. With a deep passion for historic buildings and a commitment to creating timeless new construction, we design spaces meant to endure—both in form and meaning—until they too become part of history. Each project is a tailored response to our clients’ unique needs, emphasizing livability and comfort while remaining thoughtfully attuned to the challenges and beauty of the Rocky Mountain high alpine environment. JRA takes pride in producing comprehensive construction documents that reflect the technical precision and coordination required to navigate the complex layers of regulations, codes, and engineering systems that guide the building process, ensuring clarity from concept through construction.

Raised in the rural Pacific Northwest, my passion for buildings grew from an early interest in math, art, and science—disciplines that naturally led me to study architecture at the University of Oregon. After graduating, I set out to experience life in the Rocky Mountains and quickly found a lasting home in the inner mountain west’s vibrant communities, rich history, and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in both small architecture studios and large A&E firms, contributing to a wide range of projects from building and land planning, historic preservation and rehabilitation consulting, planning, and design, to traditional commercial and residential architecture. Designing in the unique climates of the Rockies Western US, and for a broad array of clients. continues to offer both challenge and inspiration, pushing me to create meaningful, enduring architecture. I’ve been a licensed architect in Colorado since 2005 and am also registered in the state of Arizona.
